Club Med Bintan (Part 2)
Day 2 – 06 Sept 2009
It rained the whole day, so we didn’t manage to do much. However, we had a good time just relaxing and chilling out. As usual there was “Showtime” at 9pm. The show for the night was “2 Funny”. It was basically a combination of various slapstick acts. Though slapstick, I thought it was still good to have a good laugh.
After Showtime, it was “Crazy Signs”. I loved Crazy Signs! It was a mass dance session where the Club Med G.O.s would lead the G.M.s in a time of crazy dancing. I loved it! It really reminded me of VJ days. 🙂
Nothing much about the 2nd day. Basically a day to take a good break and chill. 🙂
Day 3 – 07 Sept 2009
We woke up nice and early because we had plans to play golf. After a good breakfast, we went to the golf hut. I was asked a funny question at the golf hut. When we wanted to get the golf clubs to play, the person-in-charge asked us “You play ball before?” Hmm… My answer was “YES!” 🙂 Well, the question only asked me whether I played ball before, and for me to say was not a lie. He was not asking about my level of competency in golf right? 😛 Anyway, we only played at the driving range, so there is no need for competency anyway. 🙂
After playing golf, we wanted to go snorkelling but the 10am boat trip was already full, so we switched to sailing instead. 🙂 Guess what we did after sailing? Haha, yes, we went SWIMMING! 🙂 After swimming for a while, there was an aqua aerobics class. It was great fun! It’s been so long since I last had so much fun in the pool. 🙂 And it was quite a sight to see so many people participating in the aqua aerobics. 🙂 After aqua aerobics, CG decided to participate in a game of water polo, so I went to get a drink from the bar. And I sipped my drink as I watched a game of water polo. 🙂
We decided to go for a late lunch at the Terrace Restaurant. I must say something about this Terrace Restaurant. It is a nice little open-air restaurant atop a little hill. It overlooks the sea and has a cozy ambience. Dinner at this restaurant is by reservation only. Registration starts at 8am everyday at the reception counter, but when we went there at 9am, it was already fully booked! Guess this is my only regret for this whole trip. Lunch wasn’t really fantastic and there were many ants around, but the ambience was good.
After a short rest, we decided to go for archery at 4pm. It’s been a long time since I last shot and I have to admit that my marksmanship wasn’t that good. Overall it was a good experience, although there was a small episode. I must say that I found it a disgrace, though it had nothing to do with CG and I. There was this particular middle-aged lady who brought about 5 or 6 kids to the archery shooting range. In Club Med, there was designated timeslots for everything. At that particular timeslot (4 – 6pm), it was supposed to be archery for adults. However, the lady insisted that the G.O. had to let the kids shoot. The most irritating thing was what she said. Despite the G.O. explaining to her that the timeslot was for adults, she said “Can’t you just bring out the bows for the kids, since you are idling there?” Horrible!!! Some other guests could not take it and told her off, but she only dared to order the G.O. again. “Can’t you get more G.O.s to come?” Oh my! I didn’t say anything during the episode but I was utterly disgusted. And I must commend the G.O. for the ability to control his temper. He only smiled and replied very politely. Such a ugly episode involving a fellow citizen… Sigh…
After shooting for a while, we got tired and decided to go… SWIMMING! 🙂 Again, I swam for a while and decided to get my drink from the bar. 🙂 CG did get a good workout though. 🙂
After dinner, it was Showtime again! 🙂 Tonight’s show was “The Heist”, featuring various dances amidst a theme of break-in at the museum. And after Showtime was… Crazy Signs! 🙂 I forgot to mention that there was a theme at Club Med every night. For the first night that we were there, the theme was Safari. 2nd night was All White and the last night was Beach/Hawaiian. It’s very nice to see all the G.O.s and some G.M.s dressing up to the theme. 🙂
For the third night, there was a beach volleyball match held at 10pm. CG took part in the match while I sat to watch. It was quite entertaining to watch the matches. 🙂 By night time, CG discovered that he was already badly sun burnt. Oh no…
