God is too wise…

God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind

This is from the chorus of “Trust His Heart”, one of the songs sung during the Sunday worship.

During the week, PG and I read the following passage

25Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: 26“If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters—yes, even his own life—he cannot be my disciple. 27And anyone who does not carry his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.” (Luke 14:25-26)

The message seems simple enough. We need to love Him, and love Him so much that our love for our loved ones become hate in comparison. God wants our commitment. Yet, the full implication of this never really struck me until Sunday… when the song was sung, the same passage was covered in the message, and Yongli (a kidney transplant patient) shared her testimony.

There are times when we get upset and disappointed. And we wonder “why” or “why me”. Yes, the model answer is that God is testing us and that he will never test us beyond what we can bear. But why should we be made to bear more just because we can? Or worst still… what if we can bear a lot?

He sees the master plan

We see the present clearly
But He sees the first and the last

So when you don’t understand
When you don’t see His plan
When you can’t trace His hand
Trust His heart

The simple message for us to to commit and trust Him, is not so easy afterall. God spoke to Yongli and told her that he would provide a kidney and that she would come to Singapore for the transplant a few years ago. She and her husband never gave up hope in that promise. (If they recorded her testimony, it would be up on http://www.bfec.org.sg/ in 2 weeks.)

What if we are told to really trust Him, can we do it? Hopefully, PG and I would never have to go through something like that… and if we do, I hope that we would take it joyfully.
