Parents

Just came back from my mum’s place, after celebrating her birthday in advance. It was a very simple birthday celebration. Just blew out the candle and cut the cake. My mum didn’t want us to sing the birthday song, so it was really really simplified. But I know that she was happy that we celebrated with her, even though it was so simple. πŸ™‚

Came back and was surfing facebook. Two of my friends had just become parents, one day after the other. For K and J, their son was born on Mon. For L and C, their daughter was born on Tues. Photos were already uploaded onto Facebook and you can see the glow and happiness on their faces. One of my colleagues also uploaded photos of his son onto Facebook.Β  You can see that the smile he had when he was with his son, is different from what we see at work.

It is so heartwarming and sweet to see these parents so happy to be with their children. I feel so happy for them. πŸ™‚ Looking at such photos always brings a smile to my face, cos these photos can be such a far cry from some scenarios I see at work.

No matter what, I always believe that what my mum told me since young is true – All parents love their children deeply. How true indeed! I know my parents love me deeply, I know CG’s parents love him deeply, and I know of many other parents who love their children ever so deeply. However, many a times, as children, we may not reciprocate the love our parents have for us. Sometimes we are caught up with our work, our own commitments, that we neglect the people around us. Sometimes we get so mad with a tiny mistake they made, that we forget everything good they had done for us before.

I always remind myself that I would want to spend as much time as possible with my family, be it over phone calls or family gatherings, lest I regret in future. More importantly, I want to remind myself that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me no less. πŸ™‚ A Heavenly Father who will never forsake me, a Heavenly Father who loves me despite my sins, a Heavenly Father who is always watching over me. πŸ™‚
